Job Summary
To support cancer registry operations, the casual Oncology Data Specialist II will abstract and code clinical data, maintain follow-up success rates, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards while working remotely for approximately 8 hours per week.
Key responsibilities
- Timely abstracting and coding of cancer cases in accordance with established standards and productivity levels
- Maintaining a follow-up success rate of at least 90% for abstracted cases within a five-year timeframe
- Participating in educational activities and assisting with data requests and quality reviews to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
Required qualifications
- High school diploma with two years of oncology or abstracting/coding experience, or one year of direct Cancer Registry experience
- Certification as an Oncology Data Specialist is required
- Knowledge of American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer Standards and Pennsylvania Department of Health data collection requirements
- Proficiency in medical terminology, abstracting techniques, and clinical coding systems
- Experience with hospital data systems and MS Office software products is required
