Certified Orthopedic Surgery Coder

Job Summary

To support a growing medical coding team, the full-time E/M Orthopedic Surgery Coder will review medical records to accurately assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes, focusing on orthopedic surgery and evaluation & management coding in a fully remote environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Review medical records and physician documentation to accurately assign coding
• Perform E/M coding based on medical decision-making and time, ensuring compliance with guidelines
• Code orthopedic physician and surgical services, applying appropriate modifiers and maintaining documentation standards

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent graduation from an accredited institution
• Active professional medical coding certification (e.g., CPC, CCS, COC)
• Minimum of 3 years of professional medical coding experience, specifically in E/M and orthopedic surgery coding
• Experience with MEDITECH EHR system
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding, including modifier application and global surgical package rules
