Certified Outpatient Coder

Job Summary

A company is looking for an Outpatient Coder 3 to review and code medical records for reimbursement and data collection.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and analyze electronic medical records to identify diagnoses and procedures
• Assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for outpatient records while ensuring compliance with coding guidelines
• Maintain coding accuracy and productivity standards, and communicate with physicians for additional information when necessary

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years of ICD-10 and CPT outpatient coding experience
• Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or similar credential
• Understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to health system policies
• Experience with encoder, computer-assisted coding, and EMR software applications
