Job Summary
To enhance coding accuracy and reimbursement processes, the full-time Certified Outpatient Coder will review electronic medical records, assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes, and ensure compliance with national coding guidelines in a remote work environment.
Key responsibilities
- Review and analyze electronic medical records to identify all diagnoses and procedures for coding
- Assign codes to outpatient records for reimbursement and data collection while maintaining a coding accuracy standard of 95%
- Communicate with physicians to obtain missing or incomplete documentation necessary for proper coding
Required qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of current ICD-10 and CPT outpatient coding experience
- Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to health system policies
- Experience with encoder, computer-assisted coding, and electronic medical record software applications
