Job Summary
Reviewing and assigning codes for outpatient medical records, the full-time Certified Outpatient Coder will analyze surgical, diagnostic, and wound care documentation to ensure accurate ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 HCPCS coding in a remote environment.
Key responsibilities
- Review and analyze outpatient medical records for accurate coding
- Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 HCPCS codes based on coding guidelines
- Focus on coding for Hospital Outpatient Surgery, Wound Care, and Observation services
Required qualifications
- H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
- Hospital coding experience required
- Experience in coding at a multi-hospital organization preferred
- One or more coding certifications upon hire required
- Preferred certifications include RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, CCS-P, or CPC
