Job Summary
To support healthcare operations, the part-time Certified Outpatient Coder will accurately abstract data into electronic medical record systems, assign appropriate codes, and maintain a coding accuracy rate of 95% or better while working remotely.
Key responsibilities:
- Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes to various outpatient accounts
- Abstract and enter coded data for hospital statistical and reporting requirements
- Communicate with physicians and clinical staff to clarify and resolve coding issues
Required qualifications:
- Possession of an approved AHIMA or AAPC coding credential
- Minimum of 3 years of coding experience, preferably in trauma level 1 and academic teaching facilities
- Experience with Same Day Surgery, Emergency Department, Injections & Infusions, and Observation coding
- Experience coding in the U.S. for over 3 years
- Preferred experience with Epic and 3M systems
