Certified Outpatient Coder

Job Summary

To support healthcare operations, the full-time Certified Outpatient Coder will accurately abstract and code data into electronic medical record systems, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines while maintaining a coding accuracy rate of 95% or better in a fully remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes to various outpatient accounts according to established workflows
• Abstract and enter coded data for hospital statistical and reporting requirements
• Communicate with physicians and Clinical Documentation staff to clarify clinical information and resolve coding issues

Required qualifications

• Possession of an approved AHIMA or AAPC coding credential
• Minimum of 3 years of coding experience; experience in Trauma Level 1 and Academic Teaching facilities preferred
