Certified Outpatient Coder

Job Summary

To support efficient outpatient coding processes, the full-time Certified Outpatient Coder will analyze clinical documentation to assign appropriate ICD-CM and CPT codes, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines while working remotely.

Key responsibilities:

• Perform analysis of medical records to assign accurate ICD-CM and CPT codes based on documentation
• Verify documentation to substantiate assigned codes and assist in resolving incomplete chart documentation
• Maintain a coding accuracy rate of at least 95% and participate in continuous coding audits and performance management programs

Required qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Knowledge of ICD-CM and CPT coding systems, as well as third-party payer requirements
• Medical coding certification preferred
• Training in medical terminology from an accredited program, to be completed within one year of hire
• Three years of medical abstraction and outpatient coding experience preferred
