Job Summary
Working remotely, the full-time Certified Outpatient Coder II will code procedures and diagnoses using ICD-10-CM and CPT classification systems for outpatient services, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and collaborating with healthcare providers.
Key responsibilities
- Codes procedures and diagnoses according to Official Coding Guidelines and payer rules
- Participates in professional development through online educational sessions and maintains participation records
- Communicates with providers to ensure accurate and specific documentation for coding
Required qualifications
- High School Diploma with knowledge in Medical Terminology and Anatomy and Physiology
- 2 years of coding experience or 3 years of coding experience in lieu of coding education
- Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-based (CCS-P), or Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) required upon hire
- Epic Certifications must be obtained within 5 business days of hire
- Coding education is required
