Certified Outpatient Coder III

Job Summary

A company is looking for a HIM Facility Outpatient Coder III - PRN.

Key Responsibilities

• Reviews work queue assignments and prioritizes coding tasks to meet revenue cycle goals
• Assigns and sequences diagnosis and procedure codes according to official coding guidelines
• Initiates physician queries and resolves billing edits related to coding

Required Qualifications

• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or equivalent certification
• High School Diploma or GED; must pass an advanced coder competency exam with a minimum score of 95%
• Five (5) years of hospital-based coding experience, including complex CPT surgical coding
• Advanced knowledge of ICD-10-CM-PCS coding guidelines
• Proficiency in electronic health records and encoder systems
