Certified Outpatient Coder - PA

Job Summary

To support a high-volume cardiovascular surgical program, the full-time Certified Outpatient Coder - Cardiac Surgery will review outpatient medical records and accurately assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for cardiac surgery procedures while ensuring compliance and optimizing reimbursement.

Key responsibilities

• Review and accurately code outpatient cardiac surgery encounters and related services
• Assign appropriate modifiers and ensure compliance with coding guidelines and payer regulations
• Collaborate with clinical staff and revenue cycle teams to improve coding accuracy and charge capture

Required qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree preferred
• Current coding certification required (CPC, CCS, or COC preferred)
• Minimum of 3 years of outpatient coding experience required
• Minimum of 2 years of cardiovascular or cardiac surgery coding experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS coding, and cardiac surgery terminology
