Certified Outpatient Coding Specialist

Job Summary

A company is looking for an Outpatient Coding Specialist II (Remote).

Key Responsibilities

• Reviews medical records to accurately assign ICD-10 and CPT codes for outpatient services
• Validates outpatient accounts for medical necessity and ensures compliance with coding regulations
• Collaborates with clinical staff to ensure completeness of documentation for accurate coding and reimbursement

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Three years of experience coding at least three types of outpatient services
• Successful completion of the Coder Proficiency Exam (pre-hire)
• Licensure or certification such as RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, or COC
• Knowledge of coding conventions, medical terminology, and health information systems
