Certified Outpatient Coding Specialist

Job Summary

To support a growing coding team, the full-time Certified Outpatient Coding Specialist will work remotely to provide accurate CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM coding across various specialties while ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and ethical standards.

Key responsibilities:

• Provide coding services for a minimum of 1-4 specialties, including applying diagnosis and procedure codes with high specificity
• Interpret coding guidelines and ensure accurate code assignment while identifying documentation importance on reimbursement impact
• Maintain compliance with internal policies, privacy rules, and ongoing professional development through training and credential maintenance

Required qualifications:

• Certification through AAPC (CPC or COC) or AHIMA (CCS or CCS-P) is mandatory
• At least 2 years of on-the-job coding experience is required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook, including basic spreadsheet functions and email management
• Working knowledge of EMR and billing systems
• Ability to maintain a productivity level and accuracy rate of 95% or higher
