Job Summary
Working remotely in a full-time capacity, the Certified Outpatient Medical Coder will be responsible for coding outpatient medical records, ensuring accurate diagnoses and procedure coding for hospital reimbursement and data collection.
Key responsibilities
- Code outpatient medical records, including emergency room and outpatient surgery documents, using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes
- Review medical record abstract data for accuracy in the EPIC/IHIS system before finalizing charts
- Maintain productivity and quality standards for coding, adhering to an approved work schedule
Required qualifications
- High School diploma or GED; certification or vocational training preferred
- Credentialed as a Certified Outpatient Coder by AAPC or equivalent coding certification
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant coding experience required; 2-4 years preferred
