Certified Pacific Island Language Translator

Job Summary

To support urgent recovery communications for FEMA, the remote Certified Pacific Island Language Translator will provide quick-turn written translations in various Pacific Island languages, ensuring cultural and linguistic accuracy while adhering to project deadlines.

Key responsibilities

• Provide quick-turn written translations using a Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tool
• Ensure translations are culturally and linguistically appropriate for the target language
• Deliver completed translation jobs by given deadlines and project budgets

Required qualifications

• Must reside in the United States or a U.S. territory
• Three years of professional translation experience with state and/or federal agencies
• Certification from a recognized translation industry organization or a Bachelor's degree in a language-related field
• High proficiency in English and native fluency in the target language(s)
• Experience using modern CAT tools and Adobe Acrobat for document markup
