Job Summary
To ensure accurate reimbursement capture, the full-time remote Certified Professional Coder will assign diagnostic and procedure codes to medical records, maintain coding accuracy, and collaborate with healthcare providers for clarification and documentation.
Key responsibilities
- Organizes and prioritizes work to complete coding assignments within deadlines, reviewing charts and assigning ICD and CPT codes
- Maintains a coding accuracy rate of 90% or better while adhering to standardized coding standards and compliance regulations
- Mentors and trains other coders, participates in coding policy development, and assists with coding-related inquiries from patient financial services
Required qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED (Minimum Required)
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) from AAPC (Required upon hire)
- 1 year of experience in ICD coding in a medical practice (Preferred)
