Job Summary
To enhance compliance and accuracy in coding practices, the part-time Certified Professional Coder will facilitate physician coding and documentation improvement initiatives, monitor medical records for adherence to guidelines, and provide education to providers, all in a remote setting.
Key responsibilities
- Reviews medical record documentation for accurate assignment of diagnosis, CPT, and E&M codes
- Monitors provider-selected E&M codes to ensure documentation supports medical necessity and compliance
- Develops and delivers educational materials to promote accurate documentation and professional coding standards
Required qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in health information management preferred
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-based (CCS-P) required
- Two years of experience in a professional coding role, with monitoring and education experience preferred
- Proficient in ICD-10-CM, CPT, CM, and HCPCS coding
- Strong knowledge of industry guidelines and laws for physician coding and reimbursement
