Certified Professional Coder
Job Summary
To support a growing medical practice, the remote Coder II will abstract and code surgical procedures, focusing on complex surgical CPT and ICD10 coding while ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and documentation standards.
Key responsibilities
- Abstracts and codes surgical procedures from CPT and crosswalks to ASA codes, including complex anesthesia cases
- Reviews medical documentation for required elements and applies appropriate modifiers
- Meets team KPIs, processes coding rejections, and responds to coder requests for additional information
Required qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- 3-5 years of surgical coding experience with at least 2 years in anesthesia coding
- Current Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification required; CANPC is a plus
- Experience with multiple EMRs and documentation types, including both electronic and handwritten formats
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
