Job Summary
Certified Professional Coder (CPC), responsible for accurately reviewing and assigning CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM codes for professional claims, working full-time in a remote capacity.
Key Responsibilities
- Review procedure documentation to assign accurate CPT-4 procedure codes and appropriate modifiers
- Validate provider-selected ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes and analyze documentation for accurate E&M coding
- Ensure compliance with national coding guidelines and departmental standards for accuracy and productivity
Required Qualifications, Training, and Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in health information management preferred
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Professional Coder-Apprentice (CPC-A), or Certified Coding Specialist-Physician (CCS-P) certification required
- Two years of experience in a physician coding role preferred, with ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, and HCPCS coding experience
- Knowledge of surgical coding guidelines and medical terminology
- Proficient with Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
