Job Summary
To support a variety of specialties, the Professional Fee Coder (ProFee) will work remotely in a full-time, part-time, or PRN capacity, reviewing provider documentation and assigning accurate CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM codes to ensure compliant coding and revenue integrity.
Key responsibilities
- Review provider documentation to assign accurate CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM codes while ensuring compliance with coding guidelines
- Maintain a coding accuracy of 95% or higher and meet established productivity standards through independent work
- Participate in quality reviews, audits, and ongoing coding education to identify documentation gaps and ensure accurate charge capture
Required qualifications
- Active CPC, CCS-P, RHIA, or RHIT credential in good standing
- Minimum of 2-3 years of professional fee coding experience, preferably in hospital-based or physician practice environments
- Strong knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM, modifiers, and NCCI edits
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment with high attention to detail
- Experience coding complex surgical cases and familiarity with specialty-specific coding structures
