Job Summary

Working remotely on a full-time basis, the Certified Senior Inpatient Coder will accurately code hospital inpatient accounts to ensure appropriate reimbursement and compliance with federal and state regulations while collaborating with clinical staff and maintaining coding quality and productivity standards.

Key responsibilities
  • Analyze and code complex inpatient cases using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS classification systems
  • Collaborate with senior coders and clinical documentation specialists to resolve documentation issues and provide coding advice
  • Monitor and maintain coding quality accuracy rates of 90% and productivity rates of 95% within established timeframes
Required qualifications
  • High School graduate or equivalent; formal ICD-10-CM and CPT training preferred
  • Minimum of three years of ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS coding experience in a Level 1 Trauma and Rehab hospital or four years in inpatient hospital medical records
  • Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) is required
