Job Summary
Seeking a motivated and experienced Certified Trauma Surgery Coder, the full-time remote position will focus on coding for Trauma, Gastroenterology, and General Surgery, ensuring accurate assignment of diagnostic and procedural codes in compliance with national guidelines.
Key responsibilities:
- Analyze medical records to accurately code diagnostic and procedural information in accordance with national coding guidelines
- Abstract clinical diagnoses and procedure codes into electronic medical records, ensuring completeness and accuracy
- Provide quality assurance for medical records, ensuring compliance with coding rules and regulations
Required qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent specialized training in medical record keeping principles
- At least one year of recent experience in General Surgical, Trauma, and/or GI coding
- Current certification through AAPC or AHIMA, such as CPC, CCS, or CCS-P
- Six months of professional coding services or related healthcare experience
- Knowledge of ICD and CPT coding principles as recommended by AAPC or AHIMA
