Charge Specialist ED Observation

Job Summary

To support the revenue integrity team, the full-time remote Charge Specialist ED Observation will manage charge capture, audit documentation, and ensure accurate billing codes for patient records in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Review patient records and assign appropriate billing codes using coding software and the Charge Description Master (CDM)
• Identify opportunities for improvement in clinical documentation and collaborate with Revenue Integrity staff
• Work independently while maintaining consistency in coding practices across the system

Required qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge
• 2+ years of charge capture experience or deep understanding of clinical documentation and infusion hierarchy
• Knowledge of medical terminology and current regulatory agency requirements for coding
• Experience with common office software, coding and billing software, and electronic medical records systems
• Preferred: Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding experience and relevant certifications (CCS or CPC)
