Chief Development Officer

Job Summary

Ambitious and experienced, the full-time Chief Development Officer will guide the organization's fundraising strategy, manage a team of fundraising professionals, and engage with donors to expand funding sources while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Direct all fundraising efforts, including major gifts and a digital membership program, while maintaining relationships with top donors
• Lead and inspire a development team, establishing performance metrics and fostering a collaborative culture
• Collaborate with executive leadership to set annual budgets and fundraising goals, leveraging insights from various departments

Required qualifications

• At least 12 years of experience in development and fundraising, with a proven track record of driving revenue growth exceeding $17M annually
• Demonstrated success in identifying and closing major gifts in the six- and seven-figure range
• Knowledge of the philanthropic landscape, preferably within journalism, criminal justice, or social justice sectors
• B.A. degree required, with familiarity in nonprofit fundraising tools and systems, including Salesforce
• Prior experience in a unionized environment is preferred
