Chief Information Security Officer

Job Summary

Seeking a full-time Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to provide strategic leadership and oversight for the university's information security management program, ensuring data protection and compliance while engaging collaboratively with the university community in Charlottesville, VA.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of the information security program
• Manage and mentor high-performing teams across the institution
• Evaluate and report on information security risks and compliance with regulatory requirements

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (advanced degree preferred)
• Professional security management certification (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CISA) strongly desired
• At least 10 years of experience in risk management and information security, with five years in a senior leadership role
• Knowledge of information security management frameworks such as ISO/IEC 27001 and NIST standards
• Familiarity with AI and machine learning-based tools in the information security lifecycle
