Job Summary
Leading the scientific direction of the Magnets vertical, the full-time Chief Scientist in Magnetism will define research strategy, build a top-tier scientific team, and collaborate with AI simulation platform teams to develop high-performance permanent magnets for U.S. manufacturing, all while working remotely.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the scientific charter and technical roadmap for the Magnets vertical, focusing on phase stability and microstructure engineering
- Build, lead, and mentor a multidisciplinary team of research scientists and computational scientists, ensuring high scientific standards
- Lead scientific engagement with national labs and industrial partners, translating constraints into actionable scientific problems
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a related discipline with specialization in magnetism or hard magnetic materials
- 7+ years of post-PhD experience in leading scientific programs in magnetic materials at a principal scientist or director level
- Demonstrated ability to translate modeling into manufacturable magnet formulations
- Track record of building and leading multidisciplinary scientific teams
- Outstanding external scientific presence with a strong publication and patent record
