Chief Underwriter

Job Summary

Leading the enterprise underwriting strategy in a hybrid full-time role, the Vice President, Chief Underwriter will establish underwriting policies, manage risk-selection standards, and collaborate with various teams to ensure profitable growth and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities:

• Provide executive leadership for underwriting strategy, policies, and governance practices to support financial strength and regulatory compliance
• Lead efforts in rate adequacy, pricing discipline, and portfolio profitability while partnering with cross-functional teams to monitor experience and evaluate risks
• Direct underwriting practices to ensure compliance with regulations and effective coordination with Compliance, Legal, and other departments

Required qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Accounting, Actuarial Science, Finance, Business, Math, Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 12 years of progressive experience in group health underwriting, with at least 8 years in a managerial or leadership role
• Advanced knowledge of underwriting and risk assessment techniques
• Experience in portfolio and aggregate risk management
• Strong analytical and actuarial skills
