Childrens Book Editor

Job Summary

Seeking a creative and experienced Children's Book Editor or Senior Editor for a hybrid full-time position, responsible for acquiring and developing picture books for young children, managing editorial processes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to innovate and enhance the publishing list.

Key responsibilities:

• Edit approximately 10-15 new picture books annually, identifying unique acquisition opportunities
• Oversee all aspects of book development, including manuscript acquisition, illustration coordination, and marketing copy creation
• Conduct market analysis to generate ideas for preschool and early elementary book formats, while maintaining production schedules

Required qualifications:

• 4+ years of editorial experience in children's books, with a successful track record in acquiring and editing picture books
• Strong writing and copywriting skills for various editorial needs
• Creative thinking ability to expand children's book characters and concepts
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Fluency in Spanish is a plus, with opportunities to work on bilingual projects
