Claims Technical Director - Auto Liability

Job Summary

To support the Claims Department, the full-time Claims Technical Director - Auto Liability will provide technical expertise and strategic guidance on high-severity, complex casualty claims, collaborating remotely or in a hybrid capacity from various locations including Itasca, IL, Worcester, MA, Syracuse, NY, Howell, MI, or Richmond, VA.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a senior technical resource for complex casualty claims, coaching core liability claim handlers throughout the claims lifecycle
• Conduct detailed technical reviews of claim files to ensure thorough investigation and effective litigation strategies
• Collaborate with leadership to identify risk trends and assist in shaping claims handling strategies and policies

Required qualifications

• Extensive experience in handling complex casualty claims, particularly in auto bodily injury and general liability
• Proven ability to coach and develop claims handlers in technical competencies and claims management performance
• Strong understanding of coverage analysis, damages evaluation, and exposure assessment
• Experience in litigation management and negotiation strategies for high-exposure claims
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and leadership on operational improvements
