Cloud Computing Architecture Advisor
Job Summary
Providing specialized cloud-architecture expertise, the full-time remote Cloud Computing Architecture Advisor will guide the optimization of MRMS real-time systems and reanalysis workflows for deployment in commercial cloud environments, advising on deployment pipelines, infrastructure as code, and cost optimization strategies.
Key responsibilities
- Advise NSSL scientists and engineers on developing deployment pipelines, infrastructure as code, and unit tests for MRMS systems in the commercial cloud
- Provide recommendations for meeting NWS Enterprise Cloud development standards, focusing on cloud budget and cost-optimization considerations
- Support the development of optimized pipelines for running MRMS reanalysis workflows in the commercial cloud and prepare technical documentation
Required qualifications
- BA/BS in a technical or business discipline
- 4+ years of professional and/or academic experience
- Software programming skills, particularly in C++ (Perl, Python, and Bash preferred)
- Experience with commercial cloud provider services, especially Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure
- Demonstrated ability to advise technical teams on cloud architecture strategy and cost management
