Cloud Data Architect
Job Summary
Owning the enterprise platform architecture, the full-time Cloud Data Architect will establish security baselines and govern provisioning within the VA's Microsoft Azure cloud environment, ensuring compliance and interoperability while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Establish and operate documented security, compliance, and application design rules for platform teams
- Publish and maintain the Enterprise Reference Architecture and Roadmap with clear integration and consumption guidelines
- Manage architecture governance through Architecture Review Boards and maintain traceable decision records
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
- 8-10 years of experience in cloud/data architecture roles, with at least 5 years on Microsoft Azure
- Hands-on experience with Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and Lakehouse architecture
- Working knowledge of Zero Trust Architecture principles and federal RMF/ATO processes
- Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable Tier 2 (Moderate Risk) background investigation
