Cloud Database Engineer

Job Summary

To enhance the reliability and scalability of production database operations, the remote Senior Cloud Database Engineer will manage MySQL databases on AWS RDS, troubleshoot incidents, automate workflows, and collaborate with engineering teams to improve database performance.

Key responsibilities

• Own the day-to-day operation, health, and continuous improvement of production MySQL databases on AWS RDS
• Take ownership of production incidents, performing troubleshooting and driving improvements to reduce operational issues
• Identify and automate repetitive operational tasks to enhance efficiency and reduce manual effort

Required qualifications

• 5-8 years of hands-on experience operating production databases within AWS cloud environments
• Strong practical experience with Amazon RDS and administering MySQL databases
• Experience managing cloud-managed database services and automating operational tasks using scripting languages
• Proven ability in query optimization, performance troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
• Experience collaborating closely with software engineering teams and understanding modern software development lifecycles
