Cloud Engineer

Job Summary

To support the delivery of a mission-focused, cloud-native platform for the Department of Veterans Affairs, the remote Cloud Engineer will develop AWS-based microservices, implement event-driven integrations, and contribute to automated delivery practices within an Agile engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement AWS cloud-native microservices for appointment, scheduling, and workflow capabilities
• Develop and maintain Kafka/MSK event producers and consumers to support reliable data flows
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation using tools like Jenkins, Bitbucket, and Terraform

Required Qualifications

• 2-4 years of experience in cloud engineering, software development, or a related technical role
• Practical knowledge of AWS fundamentals and cloud-native application development
• Experience developing APIs or microservices using modern programming languages
• Exposure to Kafka, AWS MSK, or similar messaging platforms
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
