Cloud FinOps Analyst

Job Summary

Supporting the ongoing optimization and financial management of the Department of Education's AWS cloud environment, the full-time Cloud FinOps Analyst will conduct financial analysis, lead cost evaluations, and implement cloud cost optimization strategies in a 100% remote setting.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct detailed financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting for AWS cloud expenditures
• Lead the cost evaluation process for additional AWS resources, collaborating with system owners and engineers to develop cost-effective solutions
• Leverage FinOps tools to identify cloud cost optimization opportunities and provide insights to leadership and stakeholders

Required qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain a Department of Education Public Trust clearance
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in cloud financial management or related discipline
• Hands-on experience with AWS environments, including cost analysis and budgeting
• Experience using AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, and similar cost management tools
• Strong understanding of AWS pricing models, billing structures, and resource optimization strategies
