COBOL Developer
Job Summary
To support modernization initiatives, the remote COBOL Developer will maintain and enhance legacy systems, write and modify COBOL code, and troubleshoot production issues while collaborating with senior team members.
Key responsibilities
- Write and modify COBOL, COBOL Language Extender (COBOL LE), and IBM MVS JCL code
- Troubleshoot and fix production issues, assisting in the creation and maintenance of technical documentation
- Participate in code testing, reviews, and support system releases, including documentation preparation
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
- 8+ years of experience in COBOL programming and 4+ years with JCL, VSAM, DB2, and CICS
- Experience with mainframe debugging tools and DISA mainframe environments preferred
- CompTIA Security+ Certification (current)
- Working knowledge of COBOL, IBM MVS JCL, and related mainframe technologies
