Coder II - Technical

Job Summary

Working remotely in a full-time capacity, the Coder II - Technical will manage same-day surgery and observation coding, ensuring accurate assignment of ICD-10-CM and CPT codes while adhering to departmental policies and productivity standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review coding for accuracy and completeness prior to submission to the billing system, utilizing standard coding guidelines and CCI edits
• Maintain coding accuracy standards of 98% within the first year and participate in monthly coding meetings to suggest operational improvements
• Utilize hospital information systems and electronic medical records to efficiently complete the coding process and ensure accurate reimbursement

Required qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• Two years of hospital coding experience
• Completion of an AHIMA or AACP-certified Coding program or equivalent program with relevant coursework
• Eligibility for RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certification
• Act 34 clearance
