Coder III

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Coder III.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform facility coding and abstracting functions for outpatient cases
• Code accounts for various outpatient services such as Emergency Department, Ambulatory Surgery, and Clinic charging
• Demonstrate knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT-4 classification systems, and medical terminology

Required Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED
• Completion of a 2-year program and coding Certification from AHIMA or AAPC, or graduate of a HIM program with RHIA/RHIT Certification
• Eligibility to sit for Certification exam within 6 months of hire or completion of coding program
• Demonstrated knowledge of ambulatory reimbursement schemes and CMS guidelines
• Must pass the AAPC and/or AHIMA Certification exam
