Job Summary
Detail-oriented and analytical, the full-time Colorado Licensed General Accountant will manage the Lottery's tax reporting sub-system, ensure compliance with tax regulations, and conduct internal audits while primarily working remotely with occasional travel required.
Key responsibilities
- Manage tax sub-systems and year-end reporting, ensuring compliance with federal and state tax regulations
- Perform discrepancy reconciliations of tax reporting records and general ledger accounts, preparing necessary journal entries
- Serve as the agency tax resource by analyzing complex tax regulations and recommending process adjustments to avoid penalties
Required qualifications
- Six years of relevant experience in professional accounting or auditing
- Current, valid licensure as a CPA by the Colorado Board of Accountancy is acceptable for meeting experience requirements
- Completion of 27 semester hours in accounting or auditing coursework
- Experience in a government accounting or auditing setting is preferred
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) standards
