Job Summary
Working fully remote, the full-time Colorado Licensed Inpatient Coding Analyst will interpret provider documentation and assign diagnostic codes for acute care services while ensuring compliance with coding regulations and providing training to clinical teams.
Key responsibilities
- Reviews and analyzes inpatient medical records for accuracy and compliance, focusing on Same Day Surgery, Observation, and Inpatient acute services
- Assigns appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT, ensuring coded data reflects the severity of illness and quality of care
- Performs coding audits and provides feedback and education to coders and clinical staff on coding best practices
Required qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Coding Certification from AHIMA or AAPC
- Expert level ability to apply complex coding and billing requirements
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, pharmacology, anatomy, and coding classification systems
- Demonstrated proficiency in using coding software and electronic health records
