Job Summary

Leading the legal strategy for crucial payments partnerships, the full-time Commercial Counsel - Active License will manage the drafting, negotiation, and execution of complex commercial agreements, collaborating cross-functionally to accelerate Coinbase's growth in a remote-first environment.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate, and execute tailored commercial agreements with strategic partners in the payments and fintech sectors
• Deliver practical legal advice that balances risk with business needs while driving novel agreement frameworks
• Build scalable commercial playbooks and risk-mitigation strategies to enhance deal timelines and business flexibility

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of transactional legal experience with a JD (or equivalent) and an active license in a U.S. state
• Expertise in drafting and negotiating complex agreements with fintechs, banks, and payment networks
• Ability to navigate regulated financial services environments and provide actionable commercial guidance
• Experience managing a high-volume deal pipeline with precision in drafting and risk assessment
• Familiarity with utilizing generative AI responsibly to improve workflow efficiency and quality
