Job Summary
Leading the legal strategy for key payments partnerships, the full-time Commercial Counsel - State Licensed will draft, negotiate, and execute complex commercial agreements while collaborating cross-functionally to drive innovative deal structures in a remote-first environment.
Key responsibilities
- Draft, negotiate, and execute tailored commercial agreements with strategic partners in the payments and fintech sectors
- Deliver business-centric legal advice that balances risk with speed and flexibility while developing scalable commercial playbooks
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to solve complex problems and accelerate deal timelines across the payments portfolio
Required qualifications
- 5+ years of transactional legal experience in-house or at a leading law firm with a JD and an active license in a U.S. state
- Expertise in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements with fintechs, banks, and payment processors
- Ability to navigate regulated financial services environments and provide actionable commercial guidance
- Proven track record of managing a high-volume deal pipeline with precision in drafting and risk assessment
- Experience utilizing generative AI responsibly to improve workflow efficiency and quality
