Job Summary

Seeking a full-time Commercial Counsel (State Licensed) to lead the legal strategy for Coinbase's key payments partnerships, managing the drafting, negotiation, and execution of complex commercial agreements while collaborating cross-functionally in a remote-first environment.

Key responsibilities:

• Own drafting, negotiation, and execution of tailored commercial agreements with strategic partners in the payments and fintech space
• Drive the development of novel agreement frameworks and provide practical legal advice that balances risk with business needs
• Build scalable commercial playbooks and risk-mitigation strategies to enhance deal timelines and business flexibility

Required qualifications:

• 5+ years of transactional legal experience in-house or at a leading law firm, with a JD and an active license in a U.S. state
• Expertise in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements with fintechs, banks, and payment networks
• Ability to navigate regulated financial services environments and provide actionable commercial guidance
• Proven track record of managing a high-volume deal pipeline with precision in drafting and risk assessment
• Experience utilizing generative AI responsibly to improve workflow efficiency and output quality
