Commercial Roofing Engineer

Job Summary

Reviewing drone and aerial imagery, the remote independent contractor Commercial Roofing Engineer will identify and classify defects, define severity levels, and guide urgent repair recommendations for large commercial roofs.

Key responsibilities

• Identifying and classifying defects visible from drone and aerial imagery
• Defining severity levels for each defect type
• Advising on triggers for urgent repairs versus monitoring or replacement recommendations

Required qualifications

• Hands-on commercial roofing inspection experience, specifically with flat and low-slope roofs
• Comfortable evaluating imagery instead of conducting physical inspections
• HAAG certification preferred
• Experience with TPO, EPDM, metal, BUR, or modified bitumen roofing materials
• Strong ability to articulate observations and their significance for assessment frameworks
