Job Summary

Community Debate Coordinator will work part-time as a Student Assistant, developing curriculum and managing community volunteers for the Seawolf Debate Program, which promotes debate in Alaska's middle and high schools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop curriculum for training judges and coaches in middle and high school debate
  • Plan, organize, and host civic debate engagement projects
  • Recruit and manage community volunteers to serve as judges during debate tournaments
Required Qualifications
  • Enrolled in the UA system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester
  • At least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average
  • Minimum of 3 years of competitive debate experience at any level
  • At least 2 years of judging and/or volunteer coaching at the middle school level
  • Knowledge of Alaska's Middle School Public Debate Program and related debating formats
