Component Engineer

Job Summary

Working remotely on a contract basis, the Component Engineer will review aerospace hardware designs for compliance with military specifications, evaluate electronic equipment designs, and manage obsolescence issues to ensure production continuity.

Key responsibilities

• Review designs of aerospace hardware and assess compliance with military specifications such as MIL-STD-11991
• Conduct quality engineering reviews of design documentation and perform detailed part-level obsolescence management
• Participate in the resolution of design conflicts and coordinate with design engineers and vendors to enforce compliance

Required qualifications

• Minimum of three years of experience working with MIL-STD-11991 requirements
• Experience interpreting manufacturer datasheets, source control drawings, and Bill of Materials
• Strong understanding of active and passive electronic piece parts and their operation
• Familiarity with Destructive Physical Analysis and MIL-STD-883 test methods is desired
• A degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or Materials Engineering is highly desired
