Job Summary

Joining a dynamic team, the full-time remote Computational Social Scientist will utilize large-scale data, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to investigate energy, climate, and behavioral questions, while developing innovative methodologies and analyzing complex datasets to enhance GoodPower's programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify novel datasets and computational approaches to measure behavior and program impact related to decarbonization
  • Develop and lead original research questions, designing rigorous studies using appropriate methods and exercising scientific judgment
  • Acquire and analyze complex datasets to uncover patterns in attitudes and behaviors relevant to GoodPower's initiatives
Required Qualifications
  • A graduate degree in a relevant quantitative or computational field such as computational social science, computer science, or data science
  • Demonstrated independent research capabilities, including developing original questions and critically evaluating evidence
  • Strong programming skills in Python and experience with reproducible analytical workflows
  • Experience working with large, complex datasets and using large language models programmatically
  • Familiarity with computational text-analysis methods and statistical reasoning, particularly in observational and predictive analyses
