Job Summary
Joining a dynamic team, the full-time remote Computational Social Scientist will utilize large-scale data, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to investigate energy, climate, and behavioral questions, while developing innovative methodologies and analyzing complex datasets to enhance GoodPower's programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify novel datasets and computational approaches to measure behavior and program impact related to decarbonization
- Develop and lead original research questions, designing rigorous studies using appropriate methods and exercising scientific judgment
- Acquire and analyze complex datasets to uncover patterns in attitudes and behaviors relevant to GoodPower's initiatives
Required Qualifications
- A graduate degree in a relevant quantitative or computational field such as computational social science, computer science, or data science
- Demonstrated independent research capabilities, including developing original questions and critically evaluating evidence
- Strong programming skills in Python and experience with reproducible analytical workflows
- Experience working with large, complex datasets and using large language models programmatically
- Familiarity with computational text-analysis methods and statistical reasoning, particularly in observational and predictive analyses
