Job Summary
To support Yale Medicine Administration, the full-time remote Connecticut Licensed Medical Coder will review charge submissions for compliance with coding guidelines, perform billing processes, and ensure accurate documentation for patient clinical services.
Key responsibilities
- Review clinical documentation to confirm diagnostic and procedural codes for medical billing charge sessions
- Verify information required to submit clean claims and ensure compliance with relevant guidelines
- Participate in team training and maintain professional knowledge through educational workshops
Required qualifications
- General knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS coding, and medical terminology
- Experience with electronic health records and practice application systems
- Understanding of Federal payer regulations and HIPAA rules
- High school diploma or equivalent, with four years of related work experience
- Certified Professional Coder Apprentice (CPC-A) certification required, with a goal to achieve CPC status within two years
