Job Summary
To support Yale Medicine Administration, the full-time remote Connecticut Licensed Medical Coder will review charge submissions for compliance with coding guidelines, ensure accurate billing of professional charges, and maintain productivity to meet deadlines.
Key responsibilities
- Review clinical documentation to confirm diagnostic and procedural codes, ensuring compliance with established guidelines
- Verify all information required for clean claim submissions, adhering to Teaching Physician guidelines
- Participate in team training and maintain professional knowledge through educational workshops and publications
Required qualifications
- Four years of related work experience, with two years in a similar role or an Associate's degree
- Certified Professional Coder Apprentice (CPC-A) certification through AAPC, with the goal of achieving CPC status within two years
- General knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCs coding, and medical terminology
- Demonstrated ability with electronic health record systems and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Knowledge of Federal payer regulations, third-party payers, and HIPAA rules
