Job Summary
To support a healthcare billing team, the full-time remote Connecticut Medical Accounts Specialist will coordinate accounts receivable collections, audit and resolve outstanding balances, and manage patient inquiries regarding billing processes.
Key responsibilities
- Audit and resolve accounts with credit and outstanding balances, determining the disposition of delinquent accounts
- Post payments and adjustments while ensuring compliance with established fee schedules
- Respond to patient inquiries and collaborate with office managers to ensure data quality from staff and providers
Required qualifications
- Associate's degree in Health Information Management Systems or related field with 1+ years of experience in healthcare billing and collections, or Coding Certification/Billing Certificate Program with 2 years of experience, or 5+ years of experience in healthcare billing and collections
- In-depth knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 Codes, Medicare and Medicaid billing rules, and insurance reimbursement methods
- Understanding of the claims appeal process and managed care contracts
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and Outlook
