Contract Graphics Reporter

Job Summary

Seeking a creative and technically skilled Contract Graphics Reporter, this full-time position will involve conceiving, reporting, and executing visual-first stories, particularly focused on the 2026 midterm elections, with flexible hours between 25 and 40 per week, either onsite in Washington, D.C. or remotely within the U.S.

Key responsibilities:

• Proactively pitch, report, and execute visual stories in a fast-paced newsroom environment
• Create maps, graphics, and interactive storytelling to illustrate electoral trends and political dynamics
• Collaborate with reporters, editors, and developers to produce engaging visual journalism optimized for digital platforms

Required qualifications:

• Experience in graphics, data reporting, or a related field
• A strong portfolio of maps, information graphics, and visual stories for digital audiences
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator is essential
• Experience covering elections or knowledge of political data is strongly preferred
• Technical proficiency in tools such as D3, React, or modern web technologies is a plus
